1st Anniversay and Blues you can use

I can’t believe I have been on the air at KHOL for a year. Time does fly as you circle the sun multiple times. I first need to thank Brad Desmond and Walker White for O.King the show and allowing me to do it “my way”. I also want to thank all of the other hard working volunteers, whether it be the other great DJ’s or all of the multitudes of behind the scenes volunteers that keep us on the air. Finally, I want to thank the members and donors and local businesses that have ponied up to make KHOL an on air force in Jackson Hole. You guys rock!!
One comment I get alot is “I want to expand my Blues collection, but where do I begin?? My 1st anniversary show was about that same topic, so here is my set list of releases you should consider when buying Blues. It is by no means definitive, just my not so humble opinion.

KHOL faves TV on the Radio on TV this weekend

Just wanted to let our listeners know that TV on the Radio will be performing on television sets across the country this weekend.  Hot off the heels of their Album of the Year (Dear Science,) awards from both Spin & Rolling Stone, TV on the Radio will be performing on Saturday Night Live and on Monday’s The Colbert Report.  But wait, it get’s even better….

One of the most distinctive elements of their album Dear Science, is the horn arrangements and you know these guys wouldn’t settle for just any old horn players for their live show.  In fact, they will be reuniting with two of the players that recorded on Dear Science, - Stuart Bogie & Aaron Johnson. Add Jordan McLean and you’ve got 3/4’s of the Antibalas Horn Section (Stuart, Aaron and Jordan). Martin Perna (also of Antibalas) who performed on Dear Science, and their Live at Amoeba EP will not be there.

So, to recap, the original horn players from the album sessions, the Antibalas Horn Section will be joining TV on the Radio as they perform this weekend on Saturday Night Live and on The Colbert Report this coming Monday!
