About PAWS:
PAWS of Jackson Hole has been advocating for animals in our community for over 10-years. We sponsor 7 community driven programs all geared toward our residents and our local pets. These programs include support of our local animal shelter, a FREE spay and neuter program, financial assistance for unexpected veterinary bills, a supply of over 100,000 mutt mitts annually, and promoting responsible pet ownership through education.
PAWS’ mission when we started was simply to support the Jackson/Teton County Animal Shelter and encourage people to adopt pets, rather than purchase through a pet store, backyard breeder, or even online. Promoting adoption through local media campaigns remains a key focus; however, last year we grew our support of the shelter and funded many cosmetic improvements to the shelter building and surrounding area. Our biggest success was the completion of a beautiful outdoor, off-leash play area for the dogs.
In 2010, we are focusing our efforts on the development of a community dog park. This project is a collaboration with the Town of Jackson, the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole and Jackson’s Parks and Recreation Department. We hope to gain approval to start development in the spring.
