I’VE BEEN A DJ/NEWS ANNOUNCER, OFF AND ON SINCE 1963 AND HAVE BEEN INVOLVED WITH JHCR SINCE 2001.  I’VE AM A RETIRED MILITARY OFFICER AND HAVE LIVED IN JACKSON SINCE 1991 AND HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN MANY PROJECTS HERE FROM ASTRONOMY AND RUNNING THE SHOOTOUT GANG, TO WRITING TWO BOOKS ABOUT WYOMING’S FILM HISTORY.

Walt’s Favorite Records of 2009 (Walt is host of Walt’s World Music From Wyoming, Sundays 2-4pm)

  • Francisco Aubele – Primal rhythms & rich vocals give it a dark sense that one can’t help but like.
  • Willie Nelson – American Classic – followup to his earlier standards hit Stardust, is as good if not better, with a couple of great duets although I wish there had been more.
  • Tcheka – Lonji – African with a great voice & rhythms to match.
  • Anjani – Blue Alert – Shades of Leonard Cohen, sultry, mystical & wonderful.
  • Shaila Durcal – Recordando - new singer, daughter of Rocio, what a voice, mostly good musical selections.
  • Susan Boyle – I Dreamed a Dream – Her voice on the recordings is a little over modulated, but the arrangements that support her are as good as it gets.
  • Gabe Dixon Band – Gabe Dixon Band – Bluegrass/Pop mix that keeps you interested with great piano virtuoso inserts.

Susan Boyle may not be a very good looking woman but she has an angelic voice. *
