Race coordinator Andy Lex reported, “(There was) an outstanding turnout for the Hoback river race yesterday. Seven raft teams showed up for the 1st ever Hoback raft race, most in costumes and they meant business. They started the race first, all put up a great fight and finished neck to neck. Following the rafts the short boat kayakers went, then followed the long race kayaks.”

All of us here at KHOL would like to thank Ryan Falley, the Mangy Moose and Jet Black Ninja Funk Grass Unit for putting together a great 2nd Annual Low Def Film Fest. From our local backcountry to a 1974 ascent of Denali, this years submissions proved just how diverse ‘low def’ can be. And thank you to everyone that came out to support the festival and KHOL.

Then of course, there was Fitzgerald’s 7th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Bash. A huge thanks goes out to Scott Fitzgerald & Andy Zimmerman for coordinating the whole event as well as the bands Slip & the Jigs and Jim Curren & Friends for the music. We would also like to thank all the sponsors – Fitzgerald’s Bicycles, Snake River Brewing, The Village Café, Nick Wilson’s and the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

]]> http://www.jhcr.org/?feed=rss2&p=1167 0 Brads Favorite 25 Albums of the LAST DECADE http://www.jhcr.org/?p=1029 http://www.jhcr.org/?p=1029#comments Tue, 05 Jan 2010 19:33:55 +0000 brad http://www.jhcr.org/?p=1029 Over the last 3 months various media outlets have been putting out their favorite records of the decade.  At first I thought this was kind of ridiculous, and I still kind of do, but I decided to attempt it anyway, if only for the exercise of looking through an entire library of music and thinking about the things that have meant the most to me over the last 10 years (the last 6 of which have kind of been an musical awakening of sorts, away from 30 minute electronic jams and towards what can be achieved in a 4 minute song).  I still think its kind of silly.  Some of these albums have had half a decade to be digested – which is why the majority of these albums were released a minimum of 4 years ago.  It’s hard to know how I’ll feel about Phoenix’s Wolfgang Amadeus in 5 years.  But for the time being, I used a kind of desert island approach to the list, as in these are the albums I would take to a desert island.  I know there are some that I missed, and some that I added in haste or nostalgia for a certain memory they invoke, but my list, warts and all, is as follows.  My top 25 records of 2000-2009, in alphabetical order:
